Many of us find that in our lives we struggle with issues that affect our emotional well being. Depression, anxiety, relationship issues are now amongst the top three emotional challenges that we now face.

The medical profession recognises that one of the most effective forms of therapy for overcoming emotional distress is CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy).

Stirling Therapy is run by David Baker, one of the most experienced CBT therapists in Kent.

DAVID BAKER MSc. (London) BSc. (Hons) DMS
BABCP (Acc), UKCP(Reg), MNCP(Acc), P.G. Cert.Clin.Sup.

David brings to his work a lifetime’s experience in helping people in their personal and professional lives. He says "During my working life I have been involved in some of the most traumatic and desperate of circumstances. He has trained as a personal centred, cognitive therapist (CT), and rational emotive behaviour [REBT], therapist, and as a clinical supervisor. His training and experience as a therapist is assisted by a sound academic training in psychology. He has developed a special interest, and been trained in, the alleviation of the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome [IBS].

In the 1980’s and 90’s he provided a comprehensive therapy service for a GP practice and the Dywd Powys Health Authority. Since 2000 he has practiced in Kent. Highly trained, experienced, and motivated David offers services privately and to a number of organisations, including First Assist, Validium and the Kent Police. David also provides medico - legal reports for the courts in respect of victims of accidents, major disasters and torture. David is a founder member of the Bloomsbury Cognitive Group, a non- profit organisation providing supervision for senior therapists.

David is accredited by the UK leading bodies for cognitive therapy, is a graduate member of the British Psychological Society, and a member of the British Performing Arts Medicine Trust.

Despite a lifetime spent helping people David reflects that his enthusiasm for therapy remains undimmed, but contends that the most effective way to care is to work hard to be at the top of ones profession so the best service can be offered. "Caring and understanding is an essential part of therapy, but being able to offer ‘concrete’ skills to the individual sits at the centre of best practice".
